DHG Ramps Up Annual Canned Food Drive

Dixon Hughes Goodman is hosting their annual "Count the Cans" campaign June 14th-June 24th. The local Certified Public Accountants and Advisors made a tremendous impact last year in Greenville County as they donated more than $11,000 and 1,000 pounds of non-perishable food to Loaves & Fishes as part of their corporate "Count the Cans" campaign. The canned food drive is heavily relied on by the pantries Loaves & Fishes serves. Food Waste?  Is it really waste? Truck-to-Table collaborative dinner suggests not.

Greenville, SC – Loaves & Fishes and Project Host sought to answer the question what happens to perfectly edible food that would otherwise be wasted? The two organizations answered the question with their celebrated, successful and longstanding collaboration during the Truck to Table Community Dinner this month. 60 invited guests enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by Project Host’s culinary students using only ingredients included in that day’s food donations received from Loaves & Fishes. Students who participate in the free culinary job-skills program are typically unemployed or underemployed, often due to barriers such as lack of education or homelessness.
