Publix Charities Supports Food Rescue & Hunger Reduction in Upstate SC

GREENVILLE, SC (Sept. 14, 2021)— Loaves & Fishes received a $5,000 grant from Publix Super Markets Charities to support their Food Donation Hub program. Food Waste?  Is it really waste? Truck-to-Table collaborative dinner suggests not.

Greenville, SC – Loaves & Fishes and Project Host sought to answer the question what happens to perfectly edible food that would otherwise be wasted? The two organizations answered the question with their celebrated, successful and longstanding collaboration during the Truck to Table Community Dinner this month. 60 invited guests enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by Project Host’s culinary students using only ingredients included in that day’s food donations received from Loaves & Fishes. Students who participate in the free culinary job-skills program are typically unemployed or underemployed, often due to barriers such as lack of education or homelessness. The students more than met the Iron Chef style challenge by creating tasty dishes from beef bourgeoisie to homemade ice cream covering a delectable cinnamon bun! “It was amazing to have...

In May, Loaves & Fishes was awarded $50,000 by Greenville Women Giving, which contributed to the fleet replacement project, but they still needed $20,000 to cover the remainder of the replacement truck. That was exactly how much Loaves & Fishes received from The SPINX Company as a beneficiary of the 2018 SPINX Golf Charity Classic. "Greenville Women Giving and SPINX are true partners to the nonprofit...
