Your Hands Help

From rescuing and delivering non-perishable food items to offering a hand at one of our fun annual events, volunteers help Loaves & Fishes reach and exceed our goals. In 2018, our volunteers helped us keep our administrative costs low by logging over 7,950 volunteer hours in which they rescued over 900,000 pounds of food in Greenville County! Scroll down to learn about all of our volunteer opportunities.

Rescue Routes

Rescue Route Volunteers rescue food that would otherwise be wasted by picking it up from a designated donor site and delivering it to one of Loaves & Fishes’ 98 partner agencies. Rescue routes take approximately 1 – 1.5 hours to complete and offer a lot of flexibility to those volunteering with us. Choose either a regular weekly route, or run a route when you can – either choice is supremely helpful!

Loaves & Fishes sends a weekly e-blast notification of available routes in which you can choose the best day for your schedule.

Rescue routes are primarily ran in the mornings, 7 days a week, 364 days a year.

Requirements to be a rescue route driver include: a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance, and attend an orientation. Upon taking a route, volunteers are required to report donation poundage information through our online reporting system.

All rescue route volunteers must be at least 18 years of age or accompanied by an adult.
